Group Meeting

we have created a facebook page about our band, ideas of our music video, digipak influences and to put our overall music video on. this then lets us know more about our target audience and lets them comment using communication without making them fill out questionnaires. this seemed to be more relevant because our target audience spends most of their time on social network sites.

Move Along- All American Rejects

the camera alignment here we really liked which influenced us mostly to try and produce this in our own music video.
Monster- Paramore

we liked the idea that paramore have used here of having themselves doing the narrative instead of random people. this way the audience can relate more to the music video as it revolves around the band.

this music genre is not an influence how the effects used of black and white influenced us to produce some of our performance shots in the black and white effect.

Mood Board for Idea

I created this moodboard on "paint" just as a collage of our basic ideas and different shots we are planning to use in our music video. these photos were also inspiration as i came across them on google they were similar to what we plan to use. 

Group Meeting

Today we pitched our final idea for our music video, from doing this we learnt that we need to work a bit more on the image of the band, how we want them to come across to the public, the target audience and the bands costumes while on the shoot.
we will be editing the videos next week and will put on t he green screen our mood boards and other resources that we have to back up what we are saying and explaining.

The target audience we have chosen for our campaign and band is between 15-30 years old. we want to aim it at teenagers when music is a major influence to their moods and the relation they have with music however still aim it to young adults around the age of 30 who are more likely to purchase this music and still go to concerts because they have more income.

Final idea for music video

As a group, we felt like we were more strongly attatched to the song "Somewhere Between the Tide & I" as we had more ideas for it and we enjoy the song to. The final idea is one of our initial ideas for this music video except much more developed.


Setting of the music video: we decided that we would set the music video on a beach or the pier linking with the title "Somewhere Between the Tide & I" and the footage of the tide will link with the music when it slows down so will the tide and when the music gets more aggressive we will include footage of the tide being aggressive.


The song is a rock song therefore it will be more performance based however after having a close listen to the lyrics, we felt like we could make a narrative story out of it so we planned this out thoroughly with the help of the lyrics.


Narrative story we have in mind for this video:


Introduction:  girl and boy sitting at a beach and the girl drifts off into a dream where she suddenly appears at the bands gig that her and the boys she was with were at earlier. she will be in the middle of the crowd looking for the boy and then it will quickly flash to her being alone in the crowd then alone at the beach where they were just at.


Middle: as she walking along the beach panicking searching for the boy she will get signs in the sand saying which way to go, etc. (inspiraton alice in wonderland signs in the woods- image below):




also recieved inspiration from the lyrics in the song "you sell yourself short, everytime, these signs will guide you home." the signs will guide her back to reality and out of this dream slowly turning into a nightmare. the whole time the boy is watching the girl lost without him like it is funny joke. "He calls your name the one you dream of, he calls your name your falling deeper." at this point the boy will be behind her whispering the lyrics into her ears which would be an extreme close up of his lips lipsynching the lyrics by her ear. as she turns around he disappears. he is playing tricks with her.


End: She gives up as she begins to learn he is playing games with her and lays on the sand and closes her eyes tightly hoping it will wake her up. it does and when she opens them the boy who was playing tricks on her is holding her, they look into eachothers eyes and she realizes that it was a dream and he wasnt evil at all, it was her being selfconcious.

to show when the boy is evil he will be wearing darker clothing and makeup and when he isnt evil he will be wearing more lighter clothing- checkered top, jeans, converses, etc.

 
Performance idea throughout:


we would preferably like most of the performance on the beach, guitarists standing in the sea (shin height) for the different angles and shots, drummer on the sand for different angles and shots then the whole band together on the beach for wide shots, etc.


we were also going to have live footage of them performing at a gig to.
Another way we thought we could promote the band which would also link with the the setting and theme of the music video is write the bands name in the sand as the music is fading and let the waves wash away the bands name however we want to edit it so the waves wash out and it presents the bands name. This inspiration came from the television programme "90210" (can be seen from the video below):
